The mission of Cleans For A Cure is to save and improve lives through action, awareness and research. Below are our programs which support our mission and are only made possible through your generous donations and support.
Type 1 Diabetes Awareness & Education
Type 1 Diabetes is often overlooked and confused with the more common Type 2 Diabetes. The onset of Type 1 Diabetes has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent Type 1 Diabetes, and—at present—nothing you can do to get rid of it.
Cleans For A Cure supports and promotes awareness of Type 1 Diabetes in the Crossfit® and athletic communities, as identifying the symptoms early can eliminate complications and in some cases, save a life.
Kycie Strong Fund
The Fight for Kycie fund was created to support Kycie Terry (pictured above), a young girl diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes following extensive brain damage after being misdiagnosis with the flu.
Cleans For A Cure subsequently created the Fight for Kycie-Burpee Challenge to support the Fight for Kycie fund.
Sadly, Kycie Terry passed away in 2015 due to complications from her misdiagnosis. Kycie's fight and determination inspired us all and continues to do so today. In her memory we have created the Kycie Strong fund to support individuals and families who are battling complications of Type 1 Diabetes.
Cleans For A Cure provides financial assistance to individuals and families who need support purchasing Type 1 Diabetes management tools and courses to make management and transition easier. Cleans For A Cure supports specific financial support for the following:
- Diabetes alert dogs
- Insulin pump therapy
- Financial assistance for extended medical stays
- Camp Carolina Trails - grades 3-11
- Nutrition counseling
